Class Disciplines

Women's Artistic

Head Coach Nicola Nicol runs these sessions, which focus solely on the discipline of women's artistic gymnastics.

Men's Artistic

Lead Men's Coach Tom Fields runs these sessions, which focus solely on the discipline of men's artistic gymnastics.

Parent & Toddler - Copy Cats

From the age of 2 months to three years, children can participate in one hour sessions with parental involvement. This is a fun introduction to the basics of gymnastic movements, and each session will follow an age appropriate theme, Coaching by Nicky. Using a multi-sensory approach and a variety of specialist and play equipment, these classes will enhance the natural development of your child and encourage the development of basic motor skills in a structured environment. There is a structured warm up with use of music and movement, which helps children to build confidence within a gymnastics environment.

Disability

We offer gymnastic coaching to children with varying levels of ability, we provide a disability session on a Saturday morning and also offer inclusive sessions to children and adults of all abilities throughout the week.

Little G's

The Little G's sessions are specifically designed for pre-school children aged 3 to 4 years and will work towards the Fundamental Movements and Pre School Proficiency Awards. The classes run for 45 minutes and will feature a different theme each week. These sessions are taken solely by the coaches, encouraging children to gain independence in a safe and fun environment. A parent or guardian must stay on site during these classes. Coaching by Nicky.

Recreational

Recreational badge classes are held for a minimum of one hour per week and are for those gymnasts who want to progress and develop their skills in a particular discipline. We offer core proficiency sessions in a wide range of disciplines. These sessions will focus on developing the skills needed to complete the Proficiency Awards Scheme and to compete in local and regional level competitions. Each gymnast will be given a badge sheet to keep track of their progress, and these are kept within the Academy for the coaches to record each new skill learnt as and when appropriate.

Freestyle

The Academy does not hold standalone freestyle sessions but integrates this style within the sport as part of the Proficiency Awards. This helps to improve speed, strength, flexibility and spatial awareness by combining elements of martial arts and stunt performances with gymnastic skills.

Adult Gymnastics

Our adult sessions are for both men and women aged sixteen and above. Adult gymnasts are encouraged to tell us which skills and moves they would like to learn, and we will then plan sessions accordingly.

School Holiday Sessions

Each year we open the gym to both members and non-members during weekdays of the school holidays. These sessions last four hours including a short lunch break. The emphasis is on learning gymnastics in a fun and fast-paced class and experiencing the variety of gymnastics equipment including the trampoline and the air track.

Schools

During term time, our coaches provide gymnastics lessons in schools. This can be delivered during the school day as part of the physical education requirement of the school curriculum, as well as during breakfast clubs and after school clubs. There will also be an opportunity for children to participate in the annual Key Steps competition and the Grimsby Twist & Flip Gymnastics Festival in association with the School Sports Partnership.

Fun 4 Baby - Steady Cats

Our aims of the session are for parents to enjoy quality unbroken time with their baby. Provide a framework for babies natural physical and physiological development aiming to enhance intellectual and social development using music, sensory, movement, stimulating colour activities using hand apparatus such as parachute, scarfs, ribbons
